Providing quality and reliability, the company has a legacy of personnel who are dedicated to the company and the customers. With time-tested diversifications, the company, under the leadership of Hemant Bhatia, Managing Director, is witnessing growth in all directions. The company is now moving on a fast track with stabilised branches as well as new services and offering new products to customers, thus giving a new dimension to cargo service - domestic and international by air, sea and surface. TKPL is cautiously moving towards total logistics service. "Our endeavour is to ensure that our clients get all the logistics services under one roof. With this aim in mind, we offer various services to our customers, which include customs clearance, freight forwarding by air and sea as well as surface transportation, transit insurance and warehousing," said Rajen Bhatia, Director, TKPL, in an interview with Cargo Talk. TKPL also provides services of material handling, re-storage and distribution. "In fact, TKPL started setting up its own warehouse in Mumbai way back in 1921. We were appointed as approved warehouse-keepers for banks. Now, we have developed ourselves to become one of the leading warehousing managers with inventory management being our speciality service. Realising the importance of the role of warehouses in the cycle of logistics solutions and supply chain management, we attached due attention to this segment of service," said Bhatia. According to Bhatia, the company enjoys a special status among its huge clientele. Elaborating on how the company managed to achieve this cutting edge, Bhatia said, "TKPL is one of the pioneers in the field of air freight. We were handling bullion as agents of the erstwhile Imperial Airways (now British Airways) and KLM in the 1930s from Mumbai and Karachi. We were appointed as IATA-approved cargo agents in 1949. This long experience has added quality and knowledge to our services thus helping us to win the confidence of the customers in terms of best air cargo solutions." Regarding the company's domestic airfreight network, Bhatia said that it handles volumes of domestic air cargo for its clients with special requirements. "Through our wide network of offices across the country, we provide JIT cargo product to some of the leading automotive manufacturers in India. Our domestic air services often feed our international activities," Bhatia informed. Recently, TKPL formed an alliance with World Cargo Alliance, the largest network of independent air and ocean freight forwarders in the world. "This ensures that we provide quality freight transportation with the latest technology, online tracking, web-based documentation capabilities and a full spectrum of electronic aids," said Bhatia.
